Cleveland State University – CM College of Law is hosting a Global Business Law Review SymposiumAI and the Impact on Privacy and the Law.  The event is Friday, March 8 from 9am to 3 pm at the Law School.

Greg Kelley, BS, EnCE, DFCP, Vestige Chief Technology Officer, is the keynote speaker.

symposium aims to bring together participants from both academia and industry who are interested in the foundations or real-life applications of artificial intelligence, specifically within the law. This symposium will focus on artificial intelligence and how it relates to topics such as intellectual property law, criminal procedure, cybersecurity, and civil law.

10:00-10:45 am – PANEL 1:  AI and the Impact on Intellectual Property Law

This panel will discuss the impact of Artificial Intelligence on Intellectual Property Law; and the future of IP law for businesses.

    • Speaker 1: Christa Laser
      • Bio: Professor Christa Laser is a current professor at CSU College of Law but has nearly a decade of practice experience as an intellectual property litigator at the law firms WilmerHale and Kirkland & Ellis LLP. She has deep expertise in patents, trademarks, copyrights, false advertising, pharmaceutical litigation and regulation, and technology law.
    • Speaker 2: Jameson Tibbs- confirmed
      • Bio:  Mr. Tibbs assists clients with copyright matters, including licensing, protecting music, art and software; trademark matters; and patent matters in the technical fields of electrical engineering and computer science with a specific focus on artificial intelligence and adaptive systems.

This panel will discuss the impact that AI will have on criminal procedure, specifically in regards to Fourth Amendment rights, and Defendant rights in criminal lawsuits.

This panel will focus on the civil issues that arise from the increasing usage of AI, specifically on employment, gender, and race.

  • Speaker 1: Sarah Moore –
    • Over the past 27+ years, Sarah has focused her practice on labor and employment matters, having served in both the public and private sectors. As to labor, Sarah’s experience includes, organizing campaigns, negotiating initial and successor collective bargaining agreements (including fact finding/conciliation), contract administration, labor arbitrations, unfair labor practices, and various labor related litigation in state and federal courts as well as the NLRB and SERB. Sarah’s employment practice has her in various Ohio courts throughout the state as well as federal courts in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Greg has been involved in the digital forensics field since 2000. He is responsible for the creation of ArcherHall’s Digital Forensics & E-Discovery infrastructure and continues to oversees this team to provide consistent high-quality results in a timely basis.

Greg has 20 years of experience working in the computer industry. His various positions and responsibilities included custom software design and implementation, network management and security, database programming, disaster recovery and end-user support. For the past 15 years, Greg has helped Vestige become one of the few companies capable of performing comprehensive digital forensic investigations. He has worked on criminal and civil matters covering areas such as intrusion and incident response, intellectual property theft, fraud and uncovering hidden assets. Greg is experienced and has testified in State court and Federal court in both civil and criminal cases.
